St. James’s Hotel & Club will be offering an exciting Board Game Afternoon Tea concept, called "It’s All In The Game", designed by Executive Head Chef, William Drabble. 

William brings the same attention to detail and quest for perfection to each element of Afternoon Tea as he does to the most elaborately prepared lunch or dinner.  Served in the stylish surroundings of William’s Bar and Bistro, the St. James’s Afternoon Tea is a true delight.

The theme of the afternoon tea is based around original board games, including traditional favourites such as: Snakes & Ladders, Backgammon, Chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, Dominoes and Ludo, all available to play at the hotel.

Our Afternoon Tea is served every day from 3.00pm to 5.30pm



Snakes and Ladders

Dark chocolate filled with milk chocolate mousse topped with cherries marinated in Kirsch, snake-skin print chocolate, chocolate ladder, passion fruit marshmallow snake.

Monopoly Top Hat

Dark chocolate hat filled with a blood orange mousse, set on a gluten-free dark chocolate sponge, topped with a blood orange jelly, finished with a dark chocolate and silver glaze.

Chess Board

Chocolate and vanilla shortbread looking like a chess board filled with a dulcey ganache (caramalised white chocolate) topped with a dulcey chocolate chess piece.


Gluten-free Battenberg sponge cake with apricot jam, wrapped in luxury marzipan, finished with white chocolate crispy biscuit pearls (contain gluten), topped with a white chocolate dice.


Bramley apple mousse set on a genoise sponge finished with white and dark chocolate scrabble pieces.


All butter shortbread biscuit, topped with a white chocolate cheesecake, glazed with a white chocolate jelly, topped with dark chocolate crispy biscuit pearls.

Homemade Scones 

Fruit and plain, clotted cream, strawberry jam. 


Egg mayonnaise with mustard cress on white bread 

Ham sandwich on brown bread 

Smoked salmon sandwich on brown bread 

Cream cheese and cucumber sandwich on white bread 

Children's sandwiches (all on white bread)
