William's Bar and Bistro

Afternoon Tea

Traditional Afternoon Tea is one of the most civilised meals of the day.

Originally devised in the mid 1800s by Anna, Duchess of Bedford as a snack to fill the long gap between lunch and dinner, Afternoon Tea quickly became a meal in itself and the opportunity to take a complete break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Afternoon Tea at the St. James’s is really rather special as it has all the classic elements - delicious wafer  thin sandwiches with a variety of fillings, the lightest scones with rich strawberry preserve and thick clotted cream and a selection of mouth watering cakes and pastries -  all made by our Michelin star chef William Drabble.
William brings the same attention to detail and quest for perfection to each element of Afternoon Tea as he does to the most elaborately prepared lunch or dinner.  Served in the stylish surroundings of William’s Bar and Bistro, the St. James’s Afternoon Tea is a true delight.
Our Afternoon Tea is served every day from 3.00pm to 5.30pm
