St.James's signature cocktail

Cocktails have been around for two hundred years or so, but it was not until the roaring twenties that the name 'cocktail' came into its own, and soon the word came to mean 'a mixed drink of exotic ingredients' 

Famous writers and drinks are inseparable, despite the price some paid for the vice. Ernest Hemingway loved the Mojito, William Faulkner had his mint juleps, and F. Scott Fitzgerald was convinced gin was the way to go (he thought its smell would be undetectable on his breath).

Here at the St. James’s Hotel and Club, our Bar Manager Joel Lawrence has created a signature cocktail, based on the history of the Club.

The creation of the STJ? was inspired by the origins of the St James’s Club itself when, in 1857, the English Earl Granville met the Italian Marchese d’Azeglio and decided to form a club for travelling diplomats.  The blend of British gin and Italian Prosecco, infused with elderflower, citrus and pomegranate, is the perfect marriage of two great cultures and the perfect drink at any time.
