St. James's Club London

A London Club to Be Proud Of

As well as boutique hotel, the St James’s is also a club. A London club that has had several incarnations for over 150 years, but which has always been associated with travellers, including the novelist and travel writer Evelyn Waugh. In his best-knownbook, Brideshead Revisited, Waugh celebrated the opulence, class and style of the English upper classes. More History of the Club>>

These qualities have always been the hallmarks of London’s gentlemen’s clubs, where tradition and history is allied to the best of modern comforts. That experience is once again available at St James’s, for membership of our club means not just a connection with a long and distinguished tradition, but also a VIP status that can be enjoyed not just here in London, but at our reciprocal clubs in cities across the world.  Our Club Room provides members with the discretion, comfort and privacy that they have the right to expect: an oasis of calm in the heart of the West End.

Pam Carter

Club Secretary Pam Carter is well acquainted with the world of luxury hotels having spent a large part of her career working for the hotels and restaurants of the former Savoy Group, including The Savoy, The Connaught, The Lygon Arms and Simpson’s-in-the-Strand.   Pam is hoping to be able to use her expertise and contacts to introduce a few events and tastings to St James’s Club members, to enhance their enjoyment when using the Club. Her long term aim is to make the Club a place where the cliché ‘a home from home, actually becomes a reality, where members can be sure of a warm welcome, amiable conversation, superb food and wine and the occasional opportunity to discover something new.
