St. James’s Hotel and Club, is delighted to announce the appointment of professional celebrity photographer Andy Gotts MBE MA as the hotel’s photographer in residence. Gotts received his MBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours.
Andy Gotts is mainly noted for his magnum opus ‘Degrees’, published in 2005. ‘Degrees’ is loosely based on the ‘six degrees of separation theory’ with each actor introducing the next subject to be photographed for the book giving Andy Gotts an extraordinary access to the world’s most famous faces. Among faces photographed by Andy in his unique style are Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry and Julia Roberts.
As the resident photographer at St. James’s Hotel and Club, Gotts is on hand to create shoots of William Drabble Executive Chef of the hotel’s Michelin star restaurant ‘Seven Park Place’ as well as many of the famous faces visiting the hotel. Gotts’ next projects include photographing every living BAFTA member and a book entitled iCon for the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
Since 1990 Gotts’ work has been published internationally and has appeared in global magazines such as GQ, Empire, FHM, French Vogue and national weekend supplements. The National Portrait Gallery holds a selection of his photographs in their permanent collection and in 2009 Gotts was honoured with the presentation of the Fox Talbot Award. Gotts received his doctorate in 2011 from De Montfort University and is also a former President of the British Institute of Professional Photographers.
